What is the difference between the VIOFO A119 V3 and the VIOFO A119 V2 Series dash cam?

BlackboxMyCar Updated by BlackboxMyCar

The VIOFO A119 V3 is the successor to the VIOFO A119 V2 dash cam and has completely different and upgraded hardwire including chipset, video sensor and lens.

Please note that the VIOFO A119 V2 has also been discontinued by VIOFO.

The A119 V3 supports 1600p resolution, which is an upgrade to the A119 V2's 1440p resolution. The A119 V3 also supports an automatic switch to parking-mode recording when coupled with the optional 3-wire hardwire kit and supports buffered parking mode - the A119 V2 does not have any of these features.

How did we do?

Why is the 3-wire hardware kit needed to use the VIOFO A119 V3 in parking mode? I already have my wires run and just want to replace one of the cameras.
