How do I activate the dash cam's LTE connection with my SIM card?Updated 18 hours ago

To activate the LTE connection, your SIM card must be inserted into your BlackVue LTE dash cam or LTE module. You can use the SIM tray removal tool included in the box to remove the SIM tray. For the LTE module, you will need to unscrew the SIM slot cover to access the tray.

A. Connect to your dashcam

  1. Via Seamless Pairing (X-Series)
    1. In the BlackVue app, tap “Connect to camera” and choose "Seamless Pairing"
    2. The BlackVue app scans for your dash cam and automatically detects it (as long as it is powered, of course). Select it once it appears on the list.
    3. You confirm the connection by tapping the side of the dash cam with the proximity/touch sensor, pressing and holding the SOS button, or scanning the QR code, depending on your specific model.
    4. Follow the remaining steps to complete the connection process.
  2. Via Wi-Fi direct (DR750-2CH LTE)
    1. Similar to the first step above, let’s do the same in the camera tab of the BlackVue App, pressing on the “+ Camera button”. This time, select “Wi-Fi Only Model”.
    2. Next, exit the BlackVue app, and navigate over to the settings of your phone.
    3. In the Wi-Fi settings of your phone, choose your BlackVue dashcam from the network list. The dashcam’s default SSID begins with its model number (e.g. BlackVue750LTE-******).
    4. Enter the password and tap join. The default Wi-Fi SSID and password are printed on a label, underneath the mount of the front camera, or on the interior of the box.
    5. Once connected to the camera's WiFi, if it states “No internet connection” or a similar message, this is perfectly normal, and we can continue.
    6. Return to the app, and press continue. After this is done, the app will instruct you to leave the app and disconnect from the camera’s Wi-Fi.
    7. Finally, return to the app. The camera will be registered in your camera tab of the BlackVue app. You can complete the Cloud connection at any time by pressing the “Cloud connection steps” button in the bottom right of your camera’s profile.

B. Activate your SIM card

  1. From the camera’s new profile, you’ll see a bar beneath it that states “Cloud connection step ½”. Give that a press, and allow the app the GPS permissions it needs for registration.
  2. On the next screen, the app will ask you to select a Cloud connection method. Select the SIM card option. Here, it will bring you to the Activate SIM card menu. The first field is the Network Carrier field.
  3. Press the search button on the right side, and search for your network carrier. If your network carrier does not appear, select “other network carrier”.
    • Note: If the APN field does not fill in automatically, then it must be filled in manually. Most APN field information can be provided by your network carrier or found online. For example, the APN that will work with Telus SIM cards is: sp.telus.com
    • For the BlackVue SIM card, the APN is: connect.cxn
  4. Underneath this, there is a Username and Password option; for North American SIM cards, both of these fields can be left fully blank.
  5. Finally, connect to the Cloud! Press the done button. After a couple of minutes, you should hear “Cloud connected” from the camera, and in the app, the Cloud icon next to the camera should turn blue, with the WiFi light on the camera turning yellow.
  6. Once completed successfully, your BlackVue dash camera will default to the Cloud whenever you press on its camera profile
  7. Once the settings are saved, the dashcam should connect to the Cloud within a few seconds. If the dashcam fails to connect to the Cloud, please check the APN settings or contact customer support.
If your SIM card is PIN or PUK locked, enter its code as provided in your SIM card package.
