How come I can't turn on my detector?Updated a day ago

If your radar detector is hardwired:

First, make sure the ground wire is securely tightened to a suitable grounding point. You can also check the power wire to see if it has come loose, and inspect the fuse it is tapped into to see if it may be blown.

If your radar detector was hardwired using an add-a-fuse, please ensure the add-a-fuse is installed in the correct orientation and that neither of the fuses is blown.

If your radar detector is not hardwired:

First, make sure that the cigarette plug is making good contact in the socket. Try reinserting the plug a few times.

You can also check the inline fuse by unscrewing the tip of the cigarette plug. There is a spring inside; be careful not to lose the spring. The fuse is blown if the metal filament, visible through the glass tube, is broken into two. The fuse's rating and size are generally embossed onto one of the metal end caps, so you can search for this online to source a replacement.

If the problem persists, then please try a new power cord.
