If I hardwire my dash cam, do I have to use the cigarette lighter socket outlet?

BlackboxMyCar Updated by BlackboxMyCar

No, if you decide to use your cigarette lighter socket outlet in your vehicle, you will be using your 12V power cable. If you decide to hardwire install your dash cam, you will be using a hardwiring cable instead and will not be needing the cigarette outlet.

For your hardwire installation, you will be using a hardwiring cable. We have an installation guide on our website to teach our customers how to properly hardwire install their dash cam into your vehicle fusebox.
