My Thinkware dash cam won't power on / turn on. What should I do?

BlackboxMyCar Updated by BlackboxMyCar

Is your Thinkware dash cam no longer powering on? If that is the case, this is most likely a power issue. Please try the following steps to fix the problem.

  1. Please check that the Inline Fuses in the Car Charger or Hardwiring Cable has not been blown. If blown, please replace with 2AMP Fuses.
  2. Please try plugging in the device, without the SD Card inserted.
  3. Ensure the outlet/power source in your vehicle is working correctly.

If these steps did not fix the issue at hand please contact us at info@blackboxmycar.com. Alternatively, you can contact Thinkware directly at support@thinkware.com.

Here are some additional troubleshooting tips for you:

  1. If your dash cam is connected to a hardwiring kit or connected to a battery pack, please check if the dash cam powers on without using the hardwire kit or the battery pack. You can do so by using the included 12V cigarette adapter inserted directly to the vehicle's 12V socket. If the dash cam does power on this way, then we can determine the issue is with the hardwire kit.
  2. If your dash cam is not hardwired or if the dash cam does not power on with the 12V cigarette socket, please check if the glass fuse in the 12V cigarette adapter is intact - please refer to the below image:

If you see that the glass fuse is broken, please do contact our support team, and we can send you a new one which should resolve the issue you're experiencing.
