This typically occurs when the SD card does not have the correct file format and/or allocation size for the dash cam, and the dash cam is unable to format the card itself.

The only way to get your BlackVue dash cam to recognize the SD card in this case would be to format it using the BlackVue PC viewer on Windows or Disk Utility (into MS-DOS/FAT32) on a Mac.

Once it is formatted and put back into the BlackVue system, it should announce "initializing SD card".
