Why does my new dash cam have poor video quality?Updated 5 hours ago

If your brand new dash cam is not providing the video quality you expect, there are a few different things to check.

  1. Check the Lens of the camera itself. Ensure that there are no scratches, fingerprints, or markings of any kind. Of course, ensure that the protective film that comes with the camera is taken off as well.
  2. Ensure your settings are optimized to deliver the best possible video quality. These settings may include resolution, framerate, and/or bitrate.
  3. Verify your viewing method. It's quite common for footage to show worse on a phone than on a computer, especially if the footage is streamed to your phone, allowing for quicker viewing. Furthermore, sometimes higher resolution cameras will struggle to play on phones at a lower resolution, so viewing over a computer is recommended.
